a Letter From Sue
Two years ago, I became aware of my sister’s cognitive decline and last July 2025, we moved Jeanne from New Mexico into our home with an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Ever since last July she has had a significant downward spiral. It is apparent that my career has prepared me “For such a time as this!”
Prior to Jeanne moving in with us, I had begun looking for a buyer for my business in 2025. Partly because I knew I was going to need to care for my sister, who is 5 years younger than me and because I will be 80 y/o in 2027. I had several proposals last year, but I wasn’t looking for just “anybody”! My commitment was to find someone who would value the culture of treating our clients, who were placed in our care, with dignity, respect and honestly, God’s love. We want our clients to know they are valued and have a right to quality of life to the end.
In August of last year, I began working with a business advisor, who helped me see the value of adding a team member, Genia…her addition has been a huge asset and has allowed us to better serve our clients. My other goal in working with an advisor was to direct me in selling my business as I realized this process was totally beyond my ability.
I wanted to give you a little advanced notice that a change in ownership is occurring on October 5 th . In May of this year, I began a conversation with Ben Lewis and Andrew Brill, with Two Dreams Capital. I’m convinced they share my vision or I would not be entrusting DHCS to them. I will be staying on full time for 6 months to support a smooth transition and will be advising after the 6 months.
I understand that this news can be shocking. I too am a bit shocked it is happening. I know you can understand the facts of why I have made this decision. But the question I’m sure you are asking is what does this mean for you? Obviously, it is a big change. Genia is making the transition with Ben and Andrew which will provide some consistency. I’m confident as you meet them, you will see their heart for this business also.
For me, honestly, there is sadness stepping away from something I love and the relationships I have built with clients and care providers. I began Denver Home Care Solutions in 2012 and I had worked as a care manager in another home care business for 10 years prior. I have been passionate about finding care providers who would go the extra mile because they cared for the client, not just the pay. I have felt this business was God’s gift to me and He has allowed me to manage His business for His saints, you and our care providers!
DHCS has certainly been an outgrowth of my heart! I am counting on Ben and Andrew to carry the legacy forward. Because I will continue to be involved, you are welcome to reach out with questions or concerns to me or Ben or Andrew, who are more than willing to hear from you.
